Call for Presenters and Posters

The NGIS 2026 Conference Committee has decided on a different format for this year’s meeting. Our 2026 meeting will be in symposium format, with all attendees in a single room. This is in keeping with our Next Generation theme – let’s all share ideas and vision about where we go in our work, in technology and innovation, and as a professional society.

We want our attendees to hear presentations that inspire and excite. Novel approaches to old problems. New problems and opportunities, and how we might address them. How geospatial technologies and our profession contribute to a world in which spatial is no longer “special” (our 2005 conference theme was “GIS Makes Nevada Spatial”) but is now integrated into almost every aspect of contemporary government, business, and daily living. Above all, we want participants (including students, as we will be on the UNR campus) to leave our symposium thinking about how they actively contribute to the next generation.

Two kinds of presentations are sought:

  • 5 minute “lightning” talks
    • Provide us a nugget of wisdom, experience, finding, or cool tool
  • 10 minute “Ted”-like presentations and demonstrations
    • Focus on cutting-edge and what our next generation will be doing
    • Tell us about how your work is changing the future

Topics? Your choice – but remember we want you to lean forward.

Posters

We will have our usual poster gallery, featuring two kinds of posters: the traditional printed poster and online digital posters, applications (including story maps), and websites. Again, lean forward!

Please send in your presentation or poster proposals here https://form.jotform.com/261904353044149. Our goal is to select presenters no later than October 1, so that you have ample time to prepare something that is amazing, wonderful, and thought-provoking.
